FKA200 has compiled a list of the most expensive domain name sales ever. Many of these sales were completed before the dot-com bust in 2001. It makes you wonder if the buyers were ever able to recoup their costs.

1 | Sex.com | $14 million | 2006 |
2 | Fund.com | $9.9 million | 2008 |
3 | Porn.com | $9 million | 2007 |
4 | Business.com | $7.5 million | 1999 |

1st, thanks for the link back to the post. I really appreciate it.
2nd, I really think those that have spent just a huge amount of money (1-5million$$$) back in 2001 before the bust much have made a good majority of their money, if not more. For example: Beer.com @ $7million. That’s a LOT of money, but they created a huge brand on the site. Porn @ 9million = they have finally taken advantage of their awesome domain and developed a MAJOR source for “porn” videos… with the amount of traffic I bet they get through type-in and a possible $25-$40/sign up that they probably make through affiliates, they probably make a couple grand / day. Remember, this is just a guess. If Spyware.com can make $100K/month (Conceptualist.com), then my guess is that these sites definitely make a great amount of money.
Once again, thanks for the link back!
